Blizzard Entertainment made another major announcement at the company's annual BlizzCon. Their approaching real-time strategy StarCraft 2 is actually going to assume the form of a trilogy, each consisting of a different campaign. The campaigns are, in fact, separate games, as Blizzard unveiled.
The first is the Terran campaign called "Terrans: Wings of Liberty." The second focuses on the Zerg and will be named "Zerg: Heart of the Swarm," while the third game is going to carry the title "Protoss: Legacy of the Void."
According to Blizzard's Rob Pardo each campaign will be very different. It also appears that the Zerg campaign will be featuring RPG elements, whereas the Protoss includes elements of diplomacy. Finally, the Terran campaign will contain a Protoss mini-campaign.
Each game includes an epic storyline, presumably with enough content to warrant a full release. For that reason, the games are going to have more cinematics and story content. In addition, each game is going to offer approximately 26-30 missions.
Blizzard's Pardo explained how this was a necessary move to maintain the quality of the product and a good alternative to actually delaying the project's release for a long time.
Whatever, guys. By the way, I have to congratulate Blizzard. It's an ingenious way to keep milking a franchise, don't you think? Korean gamers will be buying it like crazy, for starters.
